Code Governance Lead - Energy Sector
Location: Wokingham, Warwick, Glasgow, or London (Hybrid)
Contract Type: Full-time or Part-time options available - INSIDE IR35
I am working on behalf of my client, a leading organisation in the energy sector, to recruit a Code Governance Lead. This role is part of a team responsible for overseeing complex code governance processes, ensuring compliance, and driving improvements across the industry.
The successful candidate will provide regulatory expertise, manage code modifications, and engage with key industry stakeholders to support the transition to net zero.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead on industry code governance processes and electricity code administration, representing The National Energy System Operator.
- Project manage industry code changes through the governance process.
- Oversee the day-to-day activities of the team managing code governance and administration.
- Develop and implement communication and engagement strategies to support best practices in code administration.
- Act as Chair for internal and external working groups, including Code Panels and Workgroups.
- Provide expert advice on industry codes and governance, mentoring and coaching team members.
- Identify and implement improvements in internal and external code processes.
- Manage regulatory relationships, including key interactions with Ofgem.
- Represent the National Electricity System Operator at Code Administration Code of Practice (CACoP) meetings.
- Support the development and drafting of code modifications in line with CACoP principles.
- Drive initiatives to enhance customer satisfaction across code governance.
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong expertise in industry code governance and electricity market regulations.
- A solid understanding of the GB electricity and gas markets and regulatory frameworks.
- Proven experience in chairing industry meetings and engaging with external stakeholders.
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills to build effective relationships.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to draft reports and present complex information.
- Experience in coaching and mentoring team members.
- Strong project management skills, managing multiple tasks within strict timeframes.
- A proactive and strategic approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
