Our client, The Royal Parks (TRP), is a unique organisation, and the custodian of diverse parkland, rare habitats, and historic buildings and monuments in eight Royal Parks across London (as well as other important public spaces) - among the most visited attractions in the UK, with tens of millions of visits every year. Their properties host an increasingly varied range of events and activities enjoyed by diverse audiences and generating significant funds to support the charity. The rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to take on the very special role as Head of Events and Filming.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a strategic thinker to drive commercial growth, command complex operations, and protect the legacy of The Royal Parks. You will lead the development and delivery of a high-impact events strategy, identify and unlock new revenue opportunities, optimise ticketing and sponsorship activities, and oversee the management of high-value tenders and contracts. You'll also manage and guide an expert team of Event and Filming Managers who work across a diverse range of event projects.

We are looking for a highly experienced and well rounded Event professional, with exceptional leadership skills and an excellent track record in outdoor public live events (ideally across sporting, cultural, ceremonial, seasonal leisure) to take on this events 'dream job' working with the best of the best on some of the UKs most important and high profile events.

The Role
This is a high-impact leadership role at the heart of The Royal Parks' events programme, combining strategic vision, commercial acumen, and operational command. You'll drive income growth through innovative event strategies, lead complex negotiations with senior stakeholders, and oversee the seamless delivery of world-class events across London's most iconic green spaces. From shaping multi-million-pound tenders to managing live event command and crisis communications, you'll be the senior figure ensuring every event protects the parks' heritage, ecology, and public value - while delivering exceptional experiences for millions of visitors. Additionally, you will:

  • Act as senior advisor to the events and filming teams across all aspects of events (operational, brand, sponsorship, stakeholder management, h&S etc)
  • Lead on licence variations to extend and improve commercial outputs
  • Serve as TRP's senior representative in complex event discussions with Government and key London agencies, ensuring the charity's interests are upheld
  • Ensure continuous improvement by embedding a culture of learning, conducting post-event reviews, and implementing operational feedback into future planning

You
This is a broad role in its remit and responsibilities, looking for an equally well rounded (outdoor) live event professional, an expert in operational public live events, who also understands the wider considerations of commercial incoming generating events - a well qualified, strategic and creative thinker, excellent leader and presenter. To be considered as an Head of Events and Filming, you will need:

  • Broad and extensive senior level event delivery track record across ideally all or most of the following outdoor public live event formats - sporting, music/performance, cultural, ceremonial, commercial, bespoke large seasonal events, with the relevant understanding of all aspects of events, and including venue considerations and impact
  • Relevant degree or professional qualification in event management, business, commercial law, or a related field
  • Incident Command System (ICS) or other emergency management training, and Health & Safety certification (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH Managing Safely)
  • Experienced dealing at senior level with varied bodies eg DCMS, Govt Departments, GLA, Entertainment Partners, Police etc
  • The role will involve lots of interaction with the Executive Team and CEO, high profile needing strong presentation skills
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to generate revenue growth whilst balancing this with public access, sustainability, and reputational protection requirements
  • Experience of dealing with large and complicated tender documents
  • Skilled in balancing the needs of guardianship of unique/heritage properties with commercial success
  • Skilled at working with partners, suppliers and clients in the development and delivery of large public events and activities
  • Exceptional leadership, decision-making, and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop the team especially during high-pressure or time-sensitive operations
