About the role: We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager who will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects within the company, ensuring compliance, financial stability, and having a direct input into the strategic growth of the business.
The Finance Manager will also be responsible for financial planning, risk management within the business, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance, so you must be prepared to roll your sleeves up and play a vey active role within the business.
You will work alongside the other members of the SLT, whilst also having responsibility for leading a small team of Finance Assistants.
Some of the key responsibilities for the Finance Manager will involve the following: Financial Management & Reporting - Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements and management accounts.
- Conduct financial analysis and develop financial strategies to support business growth and sustainability.
Budgeting & Forecasting - Lead the annual budgeting process, ensuring realistic financial targets are set.
- Provide cash flow projections and manage working capital efficiently.
Compliance & Risk Management: - Ensure compliance with UK tax laws, VAT regulations, and statutory financial reporting requirements.
- Oversee payroll, pension schemes, and employee benefit contributions.
- Manage external audits and liaise with auditors, banks, and financial institutions.
Strategic Financial Planning - Advise senior management on financial planning, investments, and funding options.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and revenue enhancement.
Team Leadership & Development - Lead and mentor the finance team, ensuring professional development and performance. Implement best practices in financial management and internal controls.
- Foster a culture of financial accountability and efficiency across the organisation.
The successful candidate for the Finance Manager will have the following background: - A qualified Finance Manager (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with demonstrable experience in a SME to mid-sized business.
- Previous experience working within a fast-moving and operational business environment is key and it would be highly desirable if you have also worked in a highly regulated industry.
- A dynamic, practical and collaborative approach is key to succeed in this role.
- An all rounder who is comfortable taking on responsibility and driving positive change.
- Able to translate numbers and data into useful, tangible information that will help inform decision making.
- Strong working knowledge of SAGE software and ERP systems.
