Senior Waste to Fuels EngineerAbout the job:Kent is looking for a Senior Waste to Fuels Engineer to join our successful Low Carbon Consulting team in one of our UK offices. Skills & Responsibilities:
  • Providing technical leadership for Kent's numerous contracts for designing Waste to Fuels production plants (with support for intermediates upgrading to fuels from Low Carbon consulting team).
  • Supporting Consultancy Business Development, including technical presentations to clients during the tender phase.
  • Input to Consultancy Proposals (including technical execution methods, hour estimates and schedule development)
  • Taking responsibility for managing Waste to Fuels studies - screening, feasibility studies, conceptual definition and working on FEED / Detailed Design projects as a Technology Manager responsible for managing 3rdâ party licensors / specialist vendors and integration of their work into the overall FEEDs / Detailed Designs (with support for intermediates upgrading to fuels, and for licensors, from Low Carbon consulting team).
  • Managing studies as described above to the highest standards and within agreed budgets and ;
  • Identifying resource requirements, management of day to day work and regularly reporting progress to both client and Senior Management.
  • Attending Energy Transition conferences and industry groups as an active participant and presenter.
  • Capable of managing / directing engineers and specialist consultants.
  • Working closely with our clients.
  • Preparation of reports and presentation of results to clients.
  • Taking full technical ownership of work.
In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development. Yourâ knowledge/skills,â education,â andâ experience:
  • Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering ; Chartered Engineer status.
  • Experience in Waste to Fuels studies / front end design / discipline management.
  • In depth knowledge of feedstock processing and conversion. Developing knowledge in upgrading and fuels production.
  • Simulations - working knowledge of industry known packages.
  • Knowledge of waste to fuels plant interface with feedstock supply. Developing knowledge of overall fuels plant design, upgrading, and fuels offtake.
  • Strong knowledge in particular of waste conversion and intermediates clean up. Developing knowledge in fuels production units and required supporting utility systems.
Communication:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Capable of leading consultancy teams.
  • Experience in successfully managing studies.
  • Capable of performing duties on multiple tasks (with some supervision around intermediates to fuels upgrading) within agreed schedules and budgets.
  • Input to the preparation of cost estimates for studies.
  • Ability to think innovatively, practically and pragmatically.
  • Input to bespoke highly technical reports and presentations.
  • Interfacing, presenting and discussing complex issues with Clients as well as study management / commercial aspects.
  • Planning and forecasting ability.
  • Understanding of construction requirements and the limitations that these could impose on option selection.
  • Flexible in taking on new technology areas - supporting the wider technology team in areas associated with electrolytic hydrogen such as SAF production.
