Platform Architect

We are supporting a leading consultancy partnered with a postal and parcel operations organisation on a Digital and Automation Transformation Programme. The organisation is entering a Discovery Phase to evaluate automation options and enhancements to its digital platform, and we are seeking an experienced Platform Architect to support this phase.

As the Platform Architect, you will define the high-level technology architecture for an integrated digital platform, ensuring alignment between automation investments, internal workflows, and customer-facing digital solutions. You will work closely with internal Digital and Operations teams to:

• Explore automation options for parcel processing and handling equipment.

• Define the scope for the digital platform, including high-level data modelling and technology solutions.

• Map out a 'to be' vision for digital capability, aligned with automation and customer service enhancements.

• Assess potential self-serve, locker, scan & drop solutions, including app-based options.

• Contribute to an outline business case and high-level delivery plan for programme mobilisation.

• Develop and deliver a high-level technology architecture for the digital platform.

• Partner with Data Architects and internal teams to ensure integration with automation solutions.

• Support the Discovery Phase with roadmaps, phased plans, and milestones.

• Provide input into tender and proposal responses, including recommended outcomes and resources.

• Ensure governance and scope control in line with project management standards.

• Proven experience as a Platform or Technology Architect on digital transformation and automation programmes.

• Postal or parcel operations experience is essential, ideally within Royal Mail, DPD, DHL, Yodel, UPS, Evri, or similar. Candidates without this will not be considered.

• Track record of delivering large-scale digital or automation solutions, with case studies or evidence.

• Experience collaborating with internal teams and external consultancies on complex, phased programmes.

• Strong knowledge of automation technologies, digital platforms, and integration architecture in postal/logistics or similar operational environments.

• Contract: Discovery Phase (short-term, with potential follow-on)

• Location: Channel Islands / UK

• Rate: Competitive day rate - Outside IR35
