About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Site Operations to take on a career-defining role: leading the opening and operational launch of the brand-new Hub Laboratory. This new facility is currently under construction, and you will play a central role in the transition, commissioning, and mobilisation of services, ensuring the Hub is set up to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality laboratory services from day one.

Once operational, you will act as the site lead and senior point of contact for service users, overseeing staff, resources, and processes to ensure that contractual and regulatory standards are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the transition and opening of the new Hub, including service commissioning and mobilisation.
• Provide overall leadership and management of laboratory operations post-opening.
• Ensure delivery against contractual KPIs and compliance with UKAS, MHRA, and CQC standards.
• Recruit, motivate, and develop multidisciplinary teams, ensuring effective rotas, training, and performance management.
• Manage budgets, consumables, and equipment to ensure cost-effective and safe service delivery.
• Drive continuous quality improvement and operational efficiency.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including NHS and clinical partners.

About You

We're looking for a proven leader with strong operational management skills, who thrives in complex environments and can deliver at pace. You'll bring:

• Significant experience managing acute laboratory services in large, complex environments.
• In-depth knowledge of maintaining accredited services and compliance with UKAS/MHRA/CQC standards.
• Experience of leading change, service mobilisation, or new facility openings.
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to build strong, collaborative partnerships.
