Optometrist/Shefford/Up to £60,000

Job Summary:

An established independent optometry practice in Shefford is seeking a dedicated and patient-focused Optometrist to join their friendly clinical team. This role covers Thursdays, Fridays, and alternate Saturdays across two well-equipped clinics. The practice offers a relaxed, clinical environment with strong support and modern equipment, making it ideal for an Optometrist who values quality eye care over high-volume testing.

Saturday clinics run 9:00am - 12:00pm and are paid as a half day. Salary available up to £60,000 (pro rata depending on days worked).

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct thorough eye examinations with 30-minute testing times (20 minutes for children)

Deliver high-quality clinical care tailored to each patient

Utilise modern diagnostic equipment including OCT, slit lamp, phoropter, and trial frames

Provide accurate prescriptions and appropriate clinical advice

Maintain clear and compliant patient records

Work collaboratively with support staff to ensure smooth clinic operations

Uphold professional and ethical standards in line with GOC requirements

Team Development:

Work as part of a supportive, close-knit clinical team

Contribute to a positive working environment across both practice locations

Share clinical knowledge and best practices where appropriate

Engage constructively with dispensing and support staff to improve patient experience

About You:

GOC-registered Optometrist

Passionate about delivering excellent patient care

Comfortable working in an independent, clinically focused environment

Confident using OCT and standard diagnostic equipment

Professional, reliable, and patient-focused

Able to work independently while contributing positively to the wider team
