Interim Social Worker

We are seeking an experienced Social Worker to join the Court of Protection team within a South East England ICB. This is a specialist role focused on supporting individuals who lack mental capacity and ensuring that decisions made on their behalf are legally sound and in their best interests.

Key Responsibilities:

• Undertake Mental Capacity Act assessments and prepare reports for Court of Protection proceedings
• Act as the lead social worker on complex cases involving individuals who lack capacity
• Work closely with legal teams, health professionals, advocates, and families to progress cases through the court process
• Draft clear and comprehensive witness statements, court reports, and evidence bundles
• Provide expert advice to colleagues and stakeholders on the Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, and related legislation
• Attend and give evidence in court when required
• Contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings, care planning, and best interest decision-making
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in line with statutory and organisational requirements

Essential Requirements:

• Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration
• Strong knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and Court of Protection processes
• Proven experience working with complex capacity and best interest cases
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills including report writing for court
• Ability to work autonomously and manage a varied caseload
