Network Development Manager

Our client, who are a multi-site freight forwarder are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Network Development Specialist to join their growing team in Basildon, Essex. This is a great opportunity for someone with a background in logistics and supply chain who can contribute from day one.

A key part of this role involves working with suppliers and partners in China, so fluency in Mandarin (spoken and written) is essential.

• Design and improve logistics networks, including transport routes, warehouse locations, and shipping methods, to boost efficiency and reduce costs.
• Use logistics data to track performance, identify trends, and suggest improvements.
• Build strong relationships with service providers and suppliers, especially in Mandarin-speaking regions, and negotiate contracts.
• Lead network development projects, plan timelines, budgets, and resources to deliver results.
• Work closely with operations, sales, and customer service teams to ensure logistics align with business needs.
• Research new areas for network expansion and stay informed about industry trends and competitors.
• Monitor and manage logistics spending, looking for ways to increase efficiency and reduce expenses.
• Ensure logistics operations follow all legal, safety, and compliance guidelines.
• Share insights, performance updates, and strategic plans with senior management.

• 2+ years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or network development
• Fluency in Mandarin (spoken and written) is essential
• Strong understanding of global transport and logistics operations
• Experience with logistics software, data tools, and Microsoft Office
• Familiarity with ERP and TMS systems (preferred but not required)
• Positive attitude and ability to stay calm under pressure
• Good time management and multitasking skills
• Confident communicator and skilled negotiator
