Transport Planner

Description

As a Transport Planner based in Dartford, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient and cost-effective movement of goods across the UK and international network. You will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and optimising daily transport operations while maintaining a strong focus on service levels, compliance, and safety.

Key responsibilities include:

• Planning and allocating transport routes and loads to maximise efficiency and meet customer deadlines.
• Liaising with drivers, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth operations.
• Monitoring and adjusting transport plans in real-time to address issues such as delays, traffic, or vehicle availability.
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant transport legislation and health & safety standards.
• Building strong working relationships with stakeholders, including customers, colleagues, and external partners.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the planning function.

Profile

The ideal Transport Planner candidate will have:

• Previous experience in a transport planning role within logistics, haulage, or freight forwarding.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure.
• Previous experience moving perishable goods is highly desired for this role
• Excellent communication skills and the confidence to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
• A proactive and flexible approach to work with the ability to adapt in a fast-moving environment.
• IT literacy with experience using transport management systems (TMS) or equivalent.
