The Position

A Sustainability Coordinator forms part of our in-house sustainability department, which collaborates with the entire Galliard Homes Group on all existing and new sustainability initiatives. A Sustainability Coordinator plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of Galliard Homes by driving innovative sustainability initiatives across the business. This is a great opportunity to be at the forefront of our sustainability journey spanning from high-rise residential developments to urban regeneration schemes.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the development of the company's sustainability strategy.
  • Ensure the company's sustainability policy and programme is kept up to date.
  • Manage the company's ongoing ISO14001, ensuring compliance with the standard, and focusing on the requirement for continual improvement.
  • Assist in developing processes for the verification and reporting of scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon emissions.
  • Assist with establishing sustainability targets and KPIs for the company.
  • Assist with BREEAM and HQM certification and formulating strategies to achieve these.
  • Assist with SECR and ESOS reporting.
  • Drive innovation, best-practice, and new ways of working to ensure the company is compliant with environmental legislation and the company progresses towards the target of becoming a net zero carbon business.
  • Assist with providing annual updates on progress towards targets for the annual company report and company CSR report.
  • Keeping up to date with the sustainability agenda, new legislation and best practice guidelines and understanding how they may affect the company.

The Person

The Sustainability Coordinator will be a proactive individual with a strong commitment to integrating sustainability into the company's core operations. They should have a solid understanding of environmental legislation and sustainability frameworks like BREEAM, HQM, and ISO 14001. The Sustainability Coordinator will also be able to meet the below criteria:

Essential:

  • Excellent data collection and analytical skills.
  • A genuine passion for creating a sustainable future.
  • Outstanding communication skills across face-to-face, telephone, and email interactions, with a professional approach.
  • Proficient in basic Microsoft packages including Word, Excel and Outlook with the ability to learn new systems as needed.
  • Confident, articulate, and resilient in approach, with the ability to apply sustainability principles in a commercially focused manner.
  • Knowledgeable of current market trends, legislation changes, and industry practices within the sector.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working for a residential developer delivering large mixed-use, high-rise developments.
  • Degree level qualified, ideally within Sustainability or similar. We will also consider, and value qualified by experience.
  • Experience operating Environmental Management Systems.
  • Experience with audits, such as ISO 14001
  • Track record developing, maintaining, and managing sustainability-based initiatives, processes, or programs involving the collection, analysis, and reporting of program data.
