Ocean Export Operator - Forwarding

Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:45am to 5:15pm (office based, no Hybrid)

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Ocean Export Operator to join our clients Freight Forwarding team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing export ocean freight shipments from booking through to final destination, ensuring a high level of customer service, operational excellence and container logistics.

The ideal candidate will have previous freight forwarding experience, strong knowledge of ocean export procedures, and experience using CargoWise One.

Ocean Export Operations

• Manage FCL and LCL ocean export shipments from booking to completion.
• Coordinate export bookings with shipping lines, customers, hauliers and overseas agents.
• Arrange collections and transport in line with customer requirements.
• Monitor container logistics.
• Ensure all export documentation is prepared accurately and submitted within required timescales.

Documentation & Compliance

• Prepare and process Bills of Lading, export declarations and shipping instructions.
• Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations, customs requirements and company procedures.

Customer Service

• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and overseas agents.
• Respond promptly to customer enquiries and shipment queries.
• Provide proactive communication regarding shipment status, delays and exceptions.
• Resolve operational issues efficiently and professionally.

Systems & Administration

• Process and manage shipments using CargoWise One.
• Maintain accurate operational and financial records within company systems.

Skills & Experience Required

Essential

• Previous experience working within Ocean Export Freight Forwarding.
• Good knowledge of FCL and LCL export procedures.
• Experience using CargoWise One.
• Understanding of shipping documentation, export processes and container types.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Liaising with Container yards.
