Contract - 4 months (renewable) - Inside IR35

Essex Offices - (near Basildon) 4 days a week - 1 day WFH

£700 per day - Inside IR35

The banking and finance arm of one of the world's most known engineering companies is seeking a Software Engineer, Software Developer. The bank is looking to further develop their credit risk management capabilities, and FICO (Fair Isaac Corporation) credit decision management systems. The successful candidate will work directly with FICO systems to develop and maintain lending decision systems.

Essential Skills & Experience

Software Engineer, Developer - FICO systems, Python, SAS, R - Credit Lending

# 5+ years' experience working with decision systems platforms (FICO systems, Provenir, SDS/PowerCurve, etc.)

# Programming proficiency in Python, SAS, or SQL (multiple languages advantageous)

# Advanced coding skills in R, Python, Java, or SQL

# System testing expertise: Proficiency with testing capabilities within decision management platforms

# Knowledge and understanding of analytical model development, credit bureau data, and financial services

# Knowledge of lending landscape and various in-house and outsourced systems, applications & services used by Decision Systems

# Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills with attention to detail

# Ability to work and adapt in fast-changing environment with tight delivery timelines

# Ability to manage multiple large-scale projects

# Strong verbal and written communication skills

# Able to network and build strong relationships with internal and external peer groups

Desirable (not essential) Skills Required:

Software Engineer, Developer - FICO systems, Python, SAS, R - Credit Lending

FICO systems experience strongly preferred

Finance or consumer lending background

Experience with regulatory compliance requirements (FCA, PRA guidelines)

Knowledge of manufacturer finance operations

Previous experience transitioning from vendor-managed to in-house platforms

Champion/challenger testing methodology experience

STEM degree (Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, and Engineering) or equivalent experience
