We are currently recruiting for a SEMH Teaching Assistant for a secondary academy in the Lewisham area. The ideal SEMH TA will have experience supporting students with high levels of need, ideally in secondary school or similar setting. You will need to be comfortable managing challenging behaviour and have strong relationship-building skills.

As an SEMH Teaching Support, you will work with children in KS4 (aged 14-16), offering a combination of 1:1 and whole-class support. You will manage any instances of challenging behaviour, ensure that your student can access and is working according to the demands of their classroom teacher and support them through any emotional needs. Strong pastoral skills will be essential as will the need to stay calm under pressure.

Your responsibilities as a SEMH TA will include:

• Providing one-to-one or small group support to students with SEMH
• Supporting students in managing their behaviour in and outside the classroom, encouraging positive social interactions
• Monitoring and reporting on student progress to the teaching staff, contributing to reviews and future planning
• Being alert to any safeguarding or pastoral concerns
• Assisting in delivering tailored lessons and interventions aimed at improving behaviour and emotional well-being
• Promoting and encouraging positive behaviour, self-regulation, and confidence-building activities
