Randstad Education has a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated and ambitious Head of Science to join a thriving secondary school. The successful candidate will be responsible for fostering a love for science, managing a team of passionate teachers, and ensuring every student is challenged to achieve their full potential.

This is a permanent position and you will be required to support five days a week Monday - Friday inline with school hours.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the Science department, including staff performance, curriculum, and strategy.
• Drive standards of teaching and learning and be accountable for student attainment and progress.
• Manage the departmental budget, resources, and laboratory facilities.
• Oversee and develop the extra-curricular science and STEM programme.
• Ensure departmental compliance with all safeguarding and health & safety policies.

Preferred Skills:

• A relevant degree in Science and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Significant experience as a secondary Science Teacher.
• Proven leadership experience (e.g., Second in Department, Key Stage Lead).
• A strong track record of improving student attainment and exam results (GCSE/A-Level).
• Experience in curriculum design, strategic planning, and implementation.
• Skill in managing a departmental budget and leading enrichment activities.
