Job Requirements/Description

Deputy Manager - Children's Home - Join us at the start of something special

Changing Childhoods. Changing Lives.

We're working in partnership with London Borough of Bromley opening a brand-new children's home and we're looking for a compassionate and skilled Deputy Manager to help bring it to life.

This is a rare opportunity to shape a nurturing, trauma-informed environment from the very beginning. Our home is grounded in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) and the PACE model (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy). These approaches shape our culture, relationships, and daily practice, and we're seeking a Deputy who shares our commitment to relational, child-centred care.

If you're a thoughtful leader who thrives in a team, supports others to grow, and puts children's voices at the heart of everything, we'd love to hear from you.

What Young People Say

  • "I'd love to live in a place like this." - Young person, age 17
  • "This kitchen is well nice." - Young person, age 17

These first impressions matter. As Deputy Manager, you'll help turn this beautiful new house into a home, one where children feel safe, heard, and empowered.

What Children Say They Want in Staff

"Someone who won't give up on me" Anon.

"People that understand me; to make me feel like I fit in" Anon.

These voices guide our practice. You'll help ensure children's views shape the daily life and culture of the home.

What You'll Do

  • Support the Registered Manager in leading the home
  • Model and embed DDP and PACE principles in daily practice
  • Supervise and support staff to deliver trauma-informed care
  • Lead shifts and ensure smooth day-to-day operations
  • Contribute to quality assurance and Ofsted readiness
  • Champion child participation and relational approaches
  • Step into leadership when the Registered Manager is absent

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in residential childcare (Level 3 Diploma minimum; Level 5 desirable or willingness to work towards)
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge
  • Emotional resilience
  • Ability to lead shifts and support staff effectively
  • Commitment to trauma-informed, child-centred care
  • A calm, reflective, and relational approach to leadership
  • To meet a genuine occupational requirement, candidates must be a minimum age of 22.

What We Offer

  • Comprehensive training and development
  • Access to regular supervision and wellbeing support
  • A values-driven organisation with a commitment to excellence
  • Opportunities to grow into senior leadership roles
  • A chance to help shape an Outstanding future for children
