We are seeking a dedicated HLTA English to join our team, working under the supervision of the Head of English. The successful candidate will deliver literacy and intervention lessons to pupils in years 7 to 11, identified as needing to improve their literacy skills. This role involves working with small groups to whole classes and assisting teachers in their classes.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Schedule and teach a range of literacy intervention programmes to pupils in either small groups or whole classes.
- Organise reading tests to check the progress of pupils.
- Teach English intervention lessons to selected KS3 students to enhance their reading and comprehension skills.
- Assist teachers in KS4 classes where pupils' literacy levels are a barrier to progress.
- Adapt published literacy teaching resources to meet the needs of specific pupils or groups.
- Assist in planning KS3 resources/intervention resources.
- Provide feedback to pupils on their progress in accordance with Academy policies and practices.
- Carry out assessments and prepare reports on the progress of pupils on literacy programmes or to assist classroom teachers.
- Keep appropriate records on pupils.
- Provide after-school intervention lessons to KS4 pupils alongside the Academy's intervention timetable.
- Apply AI tools and automation where appropriate, to improve service delivery and operational effectiveness.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in delivering literacy and intervention lessons.
- Ability to work effectively under the supervision of the Head of English.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Ability to adapt teaching resources to meet the needs of pupils.
- Experience in assessing pupil progress and providing constructive feedback.
