The Opportunity

We are delighted to be working with a leading fire safety consultancy to recruit an experienced External Wall Consultant to join their growing team. Our client is a well-established name in the industry, specialising in delivering innovative and compliant fire safety solutions for high-profile residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects across the UK.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Façade Engineer to take on a key role in assessing, designing, and remediating external wall systems, with a particular focus on fire safety compliance. You will work on complex and challenging projects, ensuring the highest standards of safety and performance in the built environment.

The Role

As a Façade Engineer, you will:

  • Conduct detailed assessments of external wall systems to identify fire safety risks and ensure compliance with regulations, including PAS 9980, BS 8414, and Building Safety Act requirements.

  • Prepare Fire Risk Appraisals of External Walls (FRAEWs) in line with industry standards and client specifications.

  • Design and recommend remediation strategies for non-compliant external wall systems, ensuring solutions are cost-effective, practical, and compliant.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, structural engineers, and fire safety consultants, to deliver integrated solutions.

  • Use advanced software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Cyclone Register 360) to produce detailed technical drawings, reports, and 3D models.

  • Conduct site inspections and investigations, including material sampling and testing, to gather data for assessments and reports.

  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure clear communication and project alignment.

  • Stay updated on industry developments, regulations, and best practices to provide innovative and compliant solutions.

  • Mentor and support junior team members, sharing knowledge and promoting professional development.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in Architecture, Civil/Structural Engineering, Building Surveying, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in façade engineering, external wall systems, or fire safety consultancy.

  • Strong knowledge of fire safety regulations, including PAS 9980, BS 8414, and Building Safety Act requirements.

  • Experience in writing Fire Risk Appraisals of External Walls (FRAEWs).

  • Proficiency in design and modelling software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, and 3D Studio MAX.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and multidisciplinary teams.

  • A proactive and detail-oriented approach, with a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Desirable skills:

  • Professional accreditation (e.g., RIBA, CIOB, RICS, or equivalent).

  • EWS1 Qualification

  • Experience with advanced surveying tools, such as LiDAR technology and drones.

  • Knowledge of building physics, thermal performance, and sustainability principles.
