Power Electronics Engineer

Our client, a leading provider in the defence sector, is currently seeking a Power Electronics Engineer to join their team. This contract position offers a unique opportunity to be involved in high-impact projects within the defence industry. The role is based in Barrow, Frimley, Filton, or Weymouth, with occasional travel to other sites, including Milton Keynes.

• Leading systems engineering activities related to power electronics and power systems.
• Developing, maintaining, and overseeing the system architecture for submarine solutions.
• Managing requirements and ensuring compliance with electrical and functional safety standards.
• Creating and validating designs for electrical systems including 48Vdc power supplies and battery technology.
• Ensuring electrical systems are compliant with relevant standards and safety protocols such as IEC 61508.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure smooth project execution.
• Providing technical guidance and support to junior engineers and other team members.
• Maintaining thorough documentation of systems engineering activities.

• Experience in systems engineering, particularly within the defence sector.
• Strong knowledge of electrical design, including 48Vdc power supplies and battery technology.
• Understanding of various electrical cable and connector types.
• Familiarity with electrical and functional safety standards, such as IEC 61508 and intrinsic safety protocols.
• Proficiency in requirements management and the use of systems engineering tools like DOORS and Enterprise Architect.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in both a team environment and independently.

• 12-month contract
• Location: Barrow, Frimley, Filton, Weymouth, with occasional work in Milton Keynes
• Hybrid work model: 1-2 times a month on-site
