Piling Operative

Job Overview:

Our client are looking for a skilled and reliable Piling Operative to join our team working on commercial construction projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in the installation of piling systems and foundations for a variety of commercial groundwork projects. This is a hands-on position that requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to health and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate piling rigs and associated plant machinery for the installation of piles, ensuring efficiency and safety on site.
• Assist with the preparation, positioning, and installation of piling equipment and materials.
• Carry out site surveys and ensure piling systems are correctly set up according to engineering plans and specifications.
• Work alongside site supervisors and engineers to ensure all work is completed to the highest standards.
• Follow all site health and safety regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensuring a safe working environment.
• Assist in the maintenance and cleaning of piling equipment and tools.
• Report any issues, accidents, or delays to the site supervisor promptly.
• Work efficiently and effectively as part of a team to meet project deadlines and quality requirements.
• Undertake additional tasks as required by the site supervisor or project manager.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Piling Operative or similar role within the groundwork/construction industry.
• Experience with various piling techniques such as rotary bored, CFA, and driven piling.
• Knowledge of and experience with the operation of piling rigs and associated machinery.
• Valid CSCS card (or equivalent).
• Relevant health and safety qualifications, such as SSSTS or SMSTS, are desirable.
• Strong understanding of construction site health and safety practices.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions and handle physically demanding tasks.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
• A positive attitude and commitment to high-quality workmanship.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Piling rig training and certification.
• First Aid at Work certification.
• CPCS or NPORS certification for plant operation.
