About the role
We are seeking an inspiring and dedicated GCSE English & Functional Skills Lecturer to join our English department. You will deliver GCSE and Functional Skills English to vocational learners aged 16-18 as well as a growing cohort of adult students.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support learners who are combining vocational studies with essential English qualifications, helping them progress to higher education or employment. You will join a collaborative and experienced team, committed to innovation, sharing best practice, and engaging students who may be retaking their GCSEs.

What we're looking for
• A degree in English or a related subject (or Level 3 qualification with 2+ years' proven English/literacy teaching experience)
• CELTA or equivalent qualification
• Level 5 teaching qualification (DET, PGCE) or willingness to work towards one with college support
• Experience teaching GCSE, Functional Skills English, EFL, ESOL or literacy, ideally within an FE setting
• Ability to inspire reluctant learners, manage challenging behaviour, and deliver engaging lessons both in-person and online
• Strong communication, classroom management, and IT skills
• Commitment to equality, diversity, safeguarding, and ongoing professional development
• Flexibility to teach one evening class weekly (Thursday until 9pm)
