Charterhouse is launching Ignite, an ambitious new STEM super-curriculum designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and intellectual independence across the sciences. We are seeking an outstanding and imaginative educator to shape, lead, and embed this flagship programme from its inception.
Open to applicants from all science disciplines, this role would particularly suit candidates with expertise in Chemistry or Biology, and combines strategic leadership with a 50% teaching timetable in Science. The successful candidate will design and deliver an exciting programme of lectures, courses, projects, and events that stretch pupils well beyond the examined curriculum and prepare them for future STEM pathways, including competitive university courses, degree apprenticeships, and careers in innovation.
The Science Department, and PhD students-in-residence, the Director of Ignite will curate a high-profile speakers' programme, develop high-quality learning materials, and create opportunities for pupils to pursue experimental, creative, practical, and entrepreneurial STEM projects. The programme will engage pupils from Year 7 through to Year 13, including pupils in Charterhouse's partner prep schools.
This role is ideal for a teacher or academic who is passionate about enrichment education, curriculum innovation, and helping young people discover what genuinely excites them about science. While engagement in pastoral and co-curricular life is welcomed, the primary focus of this post is academic leadership and programme development.
