Senior C&I Engineer - Croydon

Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for a Senior Control & Instrumentation Engineer with a background in nuclear or defence, to be engaged on a staff basis and located in Croydon with a hybrid working model.

The Role:
The role is specific to taking a lead role on projects or be able to demonstrate that you have strong capabilities in becoming a C&I lead that can contribute to multi-disciplinary design delivery autonomously, with minimal oversight.

Key skill sets shall include:

• 
  Support the development of estimates for the scope of work and resources required to deliver it in order to support bids.
• 
  Develop design solutions to agreed time, cost, and quality in accordance with project or business milestones.
• 
  Understand the contractual and performance requirements for various systems and support the definition and associated acceptance criteria and events through design, build, integration, installation, and commissioning activities.
• 
  Produce documentation required to support the design review process, including diagrams; technical specifications; supporting calculations; design evidence and justifications.
• 
  Ensure design proving evidence is comprehensive, captured within the requirements management.
• 
  Ensure compliance against contractual requirements and that work is undertaken in accordance with company, safety, environmental, contractual, and local business processes, standards, procedures, and documentation.
• 
  Review relevant supplier documentation and ensure it is captured and recorded appropriately.
  Undertake design reviews and presentations to customers.

The Individual:
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate experience in the following areas:

• 
  Experience of full lifecycle engineering.
• 
  Technical report writing skills.
• 
  Design Justification Reports.
• 
  Technical presentations.
• 
  Attending factory acceptance tests.

An in depth understanding of at least one of the following areas:

• 
  Instrumentation and control system theory including PID control.
• 
  Electrical circuits design, EMC precautions and power supply characteristics.
• 
  Safety Integrity Levels and BS EN 61508 or 61511.
• 
  Machinery Safety and UKCA Marking.
• 
  PLC programming.
• 
  Fieldbus technology (Profibus/Profinet).
