About 80 Eastway
80 Eastway is an iconic multi-functional cultural site in East London. Home to a diverse mix of public-facing facilities, creative studios, wellness offerings, and a vibrant programme of events, the building has a strong community ethos at its heart. Community Sauna will be taking on the lease for the building on September 10th, continuing the work of Civic State our previous landlord.
Our mission is to preserve the spirit and heritage of the building while bringing structure and reliability to its management. We aim to make 80 Eastway a leading example of what a community-focused and creatively-led space can be in London.
Role Overview
We are looking for a full-time, dedicated, and practically minded building and facilities Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day operations and long-term care of 80 Eastway. This is a key leadership role, critical to the success of the site and its many functions.
You will report directly to the directors of Community Sauna who oversee the vision and long-term development of the space. You'll work closely with tenants, event producers, café operators, and wellness teams to ensure the building runs smoothly, safely, and in a way that reflects its creative purpose.
Key ResponsibilitiesBuilding Operations & Maintenance
- Ensure the building is fully operational, clean, safe, and well-maintained
- Lead on scheduled and reactive maintenance, repairs, and improvement works
- Act as main point of contact for contractors and tradespeople
Health & Safety Compliance
- Oversee health and safety protocols across the site
- Maintain and regularly update fire risk assessments and emergency plans
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
Tenant and Community Liaison
- Act as first point of contact for all tenants (commercial and creative)
- Build strong relationships with residents and licensees, supporting their use of the space
- Coordinate onboarding, contracts, access, and queries
Cross-Team Coordination
- Liaise closely with:
- Events team to ensure operational alignment and readiness
- Café and hospitality staff to maintain standards and support integration
- Sauna team to coordinate shared facilities and utilities
- Manage the site-wide cleaning contract and ensure high presentation standards
Utilities & Admin
- Manage utility contracts and monitor usage (gas, electricity, water, waste)
- Be the main liaison for all utility providers and services
- Track maintenance budgets and costs with input to financial planning
General Site Stewardship
- Maintain a site risk register and essential documentation
- Manage building access and key systems
- Monitor and improve systems for security, cleanliness, and sustainability
- Lead on site improvements, with scope to propose creative solutions
Who We're Looking For
- Experience: Strong background in building or facilities management-ideally within creative, public, or community-use sites
- Mindset: Calm, hands-on, solutions-focused, with a genuine care for people and place
- Skills: Organised, confident communicator, capable of both daily firefighting and long-term planning
- Values: Deep respect for cultural and community spaces; a belief in working collaboratively
- Bonus: Knowledge of health and safety legislation, fire safety, and experience managing improvements/refurbishments
