Our Summerhouse Behaviour Support Service is looking for a passionate and dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant - Outreach & In-House to join our amazing team and help change lives every day.

About the Role:

This is a full-time, term-time only position starting in September 2025, based in Southwark. Summerhouse is a unique therapeutic provision supporting primary-aged pupils at risk of exclusion from mainstream school.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality emotional literacy support to pupils attending Summerhouse on a part-time basis.
  • Support reintegration and inclusion through targeted outreach work in Southwark's mainstream primary schools.
  • Play an essential role in nurturing, trauma-informed practice that supports each child's development and wellbeing.

About You:

We're looking for someone who:

  • Holds or is working toward a relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant Certificate, NNEB, BTEC, Dip SW, QTS or equivalent).
  • Has proven experience working with primary-aged children with SEMH (social, emotional, and mental health) needs.
  • Builds strong, supportive relationships with children displaying complex and challenging behaviour.
  • Works effectively within a trauma-informed, child-centred team.
  • Demonstrates confident behaviour management strategies.
  • Can provide outreach and reintegration support in both specialist and mainstream settings.
  • Is confident in supporting and advising mainstream staff working with SEMH pupils.
