SEN Assistant

A forward-thinking secondary school in Bexley is seeking a reliable, confident individual to join their dedicated SEN team, supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD and behavioural needs. This is a key role for someone who can offer consistent, calm support and help students manage their emotions and behaviour throughout the school day.

This position is particularly suited to someone who can provide a strong and steady presence, with the ability to build trust, maintain clear boundaries, and act as a positive role model for young people who benefit from structure, patience and firm guidance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with a range of SEN and behavioural needs
• Support emotional regulation, social skills and engagement in learning
• Work closely with the SENCO, pastoral team and teaching staff to implement personalised strategies
• Help to maintain a safe, respectful and inclusive environment across the school

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

• Brings a calm, confident and resilient approach to behaviour support
• Has experience working with secondary-aged students with SEND and behavioural challenges
• Can defuse situations effectively and build positive, professional relationships with students
• Is a team player with strong communication skills and a proactive attitude

Desirable (but not essential):

• Experience in alternative provision, PRUs or youth work settings
• Training in de-escalation strategies, Team Teach or trauma-informed practice
• Knowledge of EHCPs and SEND frameworks
