Business Data Analyst

Role: Business Data AnalystLocation: London Hybrid working: 3 days per week in officeSalary: £85,000Start date: ASAP

My client, a leading financial services organisation, is seeking a Business Data Analyst to join their team. This role offers the chance to work closely with both finance stakeholders and technical data teams, delivering meaningful solutions by combining strong SQL skills with business analysis expertise.

Key skills/responsibilities:

• Serve as the link between finance teams and data specialists - translating business problems into data requirements
• Balance of activities: stakeholder engagement, business analysis, and hands-on data work (SQL queries, troubleshooting, mapping data)
• Write, test, and troubleshoot SQL queries; join tables; read stored procedures
• Interpret finance concepts such as ledgers, budgeting, reconciliations, and accounting flows to accurately capture requirements
• Support BAU requests as well as small finance projects from design through to delivery
• Collaborate with offshore technical BAs to provide oversight and ensure quality delivery
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders to become their trusted data partner

Essential skills:

• Proven SQL proficiency, ideally in large datasets or data warehouse environments
• Understanding of finance processes and the ability to engage confidently with finance users
• Strong business analysis capability, including requirements gathering and solution mapping
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently
• Knowledge of data warehousing flows, dependencies, and architecture
• Strong experience using PowerBI
