Job Requirements/Description

Follow-On Job Coach

  • Support students across Preparation for Work and Life & Project SEARCH programs.

  • Assist graduates in applying for jobs, attending interviews, and transitioning into employment or supported employment.

  • Support students 1:1 or in groups during work placements.

  • Contribute to the organisation's mission, values, and strategic objectives.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support students at work placements to develop independence.

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with employers.

  • Act as first point of contact for employers.

  • Participate in job coach training and ongoing learning.

  • Attend 6-weekly review meetings with Assistant Principals, employers, and students.

  • Mentor less experienced colleagues and share good practice.

  • Suggest workplace adaptations (reasonable adjustments) for students.

  • Complete daily risk assessments and related paperwork.

  • Contribute to student progress records and target tracking.

  • Support staff in maintaining an orderly learning environment.

  • Provide care for students' physical welfare.

  • Plan sessions to develop employability skills.

  • Identify relevant events for student interns.

  • Maintain communication with graduates, families, and employers.

  • Undertake other duties as requested by Principal.

Person Specification:

  • Good English and Maths skills.

  • Teamwork and effective communication skills.

  • Ability to support students in lessons, placements, and community settings.

  • Skilled in risk assessment and maintaining student safety.

  • Able to build effective relationships with staff, students, and families.

  • Confident in record keeping and IT (Microsoft Office, email, cloud systems).

  • Flexible to work evenings, weekends, or holidays if required.

  • Awareness of autism, related learning disabilities, and inclusive education.

  • Respectful, confidential, and committed to students as individuals.

  • Willingness to undertake training and achieve NVQ or equivalent.

  • Understanding of the organisation's aims and values.
