We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Social Worker to join a thriving foster care company and make a positive impact on the lives of individuals, families, and communities. The successful candidate will have a passion for helping others and a commitment to making a difference.

As a Social Worker, you will provide ongoing support to foster carers, including attending regular supervision visits, review and planning meetings, and providing advocacy and support when needed. Our client believes that strong partnerships between foster carers and social workers are essential to providing the best possible care for children.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A recognised Social Work qualification and registration (to practise) with Social Work England. Such as, an Honours or postgraduate degree in social work
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • To have working knowledge of MS Office packages

Desirable requirements and skills

  • A Full (UK) Driving Licence
  • Empathetic nature to adequately understand clients' predicaments and provide the necessary support
  • Excellent organisational skills to successfully prioritise the many different aspects of the job
  • Strong critical thinking to objectively evaluate each case and determine the best path of action
  • Patience to successfully deal with complex cases and clients who may not progress as expected
  • Superior emotional intelligence and maturity to cope with the emotional demands of the job
  • Effective analysis, assessment and planning skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake and complete assessments - including Form F Assessments - in line with the needs of the foster child(ren) and foster carers.
  • Attend supervision of Foster Carers at their homes, make initial visits to prospective carers, and support carers with the admission of children / young people to the placement.
  • Attend review / planning / disruption / placement-support meetings and advocate on behalf of foster carers and children in placement.
  • Liaise with Social Workers, the Manager / Operations Director / Care & Development Manager and other professionals regarding any issues that arise for foster carers and children.
  • Ensure records, files and statutory checks are kept up to date in accordance with fostering Regulations / Standards and the company's policies and procedures.
  • Work in line with company policies, child-care and fostering laws / Regulations / Standards, maintaining confidentiality in line with GDPR.
  • Attend / facilitate training to foster carers, as required.
