HVAC Commissioning Engineer

About the Role
We're working with a well-established environmental services provider to recruit an experienced HVAC Commissioning Engineer. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone based in the London or South London area, particularly those with a background in HVAC commissioning within the water treatment or water hygiene sector.
You'll play a key role in ensuring HVAC systems are installed, commissioned, and optimised to the highest standards across commercial, industrial, and residential sites. Key Responsibilities
- Commission, test, and balance HVAC systems in line with project specifications and industry standards
- Carry out initial system checks, diagnostics, and fault resolution
- Set up and adjust systems for maximum performance and efficiency
- Perform air and water balancing (including dampers, valves, AHUs)
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors during installation and commissioning
- Provide on-site technical support to clients and colleagues
- Ensure compliance with relevant health & safety legislation, codes, and regulations
- Produce detailed commissioning documentation, including test results and system settings
- Identify performance improvements and recommend energy-saving measures
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience as an HVAC Commissioning Engineer
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems including chilled water, heating, ventilation, ASHP, and CHP
- Competent in using commissioning tools and BMS platforms (e.g. Trend)
- Relevant qualifications such as CSA Grade, NVQ Level 3 in HVAC, City & Guilds, or equivalent
- Solid understanding of UK industry standards (BSRIA, CIBSE, HVCA)
- Health & safety conscious, with the ability to follow safe working practices
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and manage on-site commissioning
- Willingness to mentor junior engineers and support training initiatives
Desirable Skills
- Experience in integrating HVAC systems with Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Knowledge of all areas of HVAC and water hygiene commissioning
- Familiarity with environmental compliance in HVAC-related systems
