Head of Project Management Office - Remote

We are partnering with a Not-for-Profit organisation who are recruiting for a Head of Project Management Office (PMO).

90% remote, with 2-3 days per month on-site at their London office.

Please note this is a 12 month FTC.

You will be responsible for overseeing the organisation's entire project portfolio, ensuring all projects and programs align with strategic objectives, deliver maximum business value, and are executed efficiently.

This role requires a combination of strategic thinking, portfolio-level oversight, and hands-on involvement in project delivery where necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own the organisation's project portfolio with a Hands on approach.
• Managing a team of 8 including Project Managers and Business Analysts.
• Develop and maintain a clear portfolio roadmap, tracking progress, dependencies, and outcomes.
• Provide executive reporting on portfolio performance, risks, and benefits realization.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, budget, and quality standards.
• Manage risks, escalations across multiple projects to minimise disruption.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the team fostering a culture of accountability and delivery excellence.
• Act as a key influencer across the organisation, building strong relationships with senior stakeholders .

Skills and Competencies:

• Proven experience in leading programme or portfolio management in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment
• Hands-on project delivery experience, with ability to step in and support teams when needed.
• Excellent leadership and team management capabilities.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, able to influence at all levels.
• Proficient in project and portfolio management tools (eg, MS Project, Jira Portfolio, Planview, or equivalent).
