Integrity Education Solutions are supporting a unique independent SEN group, that provides therapeutic education for children and young people with special educational / neurodiverse learning needs (SEN).

They are seeking to appoint a Functional Skills Teacher to join their specialist provision for vulnerable neurodiverse young people in their community based therapeutic service based in East London, to start ASAP on a permanent basis.

As the Functional Skills Teacher, you will lead on providing high quality literacy and numeracy learning opportunities for the pupils within the provision s assessment programme. You will be required to prepare and deliver an English and Maths functional skills curriculum to pupils in KS3 to prepare them for core subject learning outside of the Assessment programme. You will look at pupils holistically and carry out specific direct educational work supporting them in achieving their Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) targets and personal aspirations.

This will involve delivering lessons that are pupil-focused and creative, according to an agreed timetable, and with defined outcomes that link with their Education, Health, and Care Plan. You will work with other staff, including Therapeutic Integration Practitioners, to teach functional English and Maths skills to pupils within the specialist Assessment Programme, aswell as providing opportunities for pupils to experience/understand the functional literacy and numeracy skills in a range of contexts and through a range of resources and uses. Devise schemes of work, lessons plans and curriculum projects that are differentiated to meet the needs of the pupils, utilising a full range of appropriate community facilities.

KEY EXPERIENCE

  • Substantial experience of supporting neurodiverse children or with ASC and/or SEMH and an understanding of potential implications for communication, learning and behaviour patterns.
  • Working knowledge of National Curriculum, KS requirements and Code of Practice for SEND.
  • Knowledge and awareness of Safeguarding & Child Protection Procedures.
  • Demonstrable achievement in improving learning outcomes.
  • Recent proven experience as an outstanding teacher.

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Qualified Teacher (QTS or QTLS), with specialism in a relevant subject.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in education.
  • SEND qualifications or training (Desirable)

Salary: £40,000 - £55,000 (Dependent on experience)
