Job Requirements/Description

Planning Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Planning Manager to help lead our planning function. You will be instrumental in developing and delivering realistic, de-risked programmes that meet our clients' needs while ensuring the highest standards of quality and compliance with current legislation

You will be instrumental in planning resources for our projects (which can be in live environments) in collaboration with the other members of the project and supply chain - as well as project resource requirements for future workloads.

You will have experience of identifying complex project issues early to reduce the impact on working programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the planning process throughout preconstruction and site delivery, including project scheduling, resource planning, and identifying critical milestones.
  • Managing planning team
  • Develop robust, evidence-based tender programmes for submission, ensuring they are aligned with project scope and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with the preconstruction team, supply chain partners, design, and estimating teams to create logical, high-quality programmes and optimise construction sequences.
  • Track and monitor all programmes, providing regular updates and advising on progress, risks, and implications of design changes.
  • Produce comprehensive site logistics plans that reflect a thorough planning approach and support site operations.
  • Provide training and coaching to enhance the planning and programming skills of team members.
  • Actively seek opportunities for alternative construction methods and promote digital construction practices, including 4D planning and emerging software.

As the specialist interiors arm of the Willmott Dixon Group we are currently involved in some major projects with individual values to circa 40m+. These include some major refurbishments to listed and landmark buildings, hospitals, universities, defence/blue-light estates, flagship stores and offices. We have a very strong pipeline of interesting and diverse work.

Our office is within easy reach of a number of stations: City Thameslink, Blackfriars, St. Paul's, Cannon Street, Farringdon, Fenchurch Street, Holborn, Liverpool Street and Waterloo.

What we are looking for:

  • Proven experience as a Planning Manager or in a similar role within the construction industry, ideally with experience in fit-out and refurbishment projects (although major projects experience 100m+ would be considered too).
  • Strong technical expertise in planning methodologies and software, we use Asta Powerproject (with some Primevera when requested by our customers).
  • Excellent collaboration skills to work effectively with internal teams and external partners.
  • Ability to identify complex project issues early and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • A proactive and innovative approach to problem-solving with a commitment to delivering exceptional customer value.
