Head of Finance (Interim)

Are you an experienced finance professional with a passion for leadership and expertise in Capital or Treasury management within local government? This is your chance to make an impact in a council based in North West London on a temporary 6-month placement.

• Hourly Rate: 38.91 PAYE / 49.63 Umbrella
• Working Model: Hybrid (3 days in the office, 2 remote)
• Contract Duration: 6 months, with potential for extension

As the Interim Head of Finance, you'll provide strategic financial leadership, ensuring high-quality financial planning, accounting, and commercial advice. Key responsibilities include:

• Leading on financial management for budgets up to 250 million.
• Advising senior managers, council members, and key stakeholders.
• Managing and motivating a high-performing finance team.
• Overseeing the development and compliance of financial policies and statutory reporting.
• Leading transformational projects to drive efficiencies and improve financial control.

• Qualifications: CCAB Qualified Accountant (CIPFA preferred), with extensive post-qualification experience.
• Experience:
  • Proven track record in managing Capital or Treasury functions within local government.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience managing diverse teams.
  • Expertise in financial planning, control, and regulatory compliance in large organisations.
• Skills: Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, with the capability to influence senior decision-makers.
