SEMH Primary Teacher

Tradewind Recruitment are excited to be working with a nurturing and dynamic SEMH specialist school in Croydon, who are seeking a compassionate and resilient Primary Teacher to join their team on a full-time basis.

This welcoming school supports primary-aged children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many of whom have experienced challenges in mainstream settings. The school provides a therapeutic, child-centred environment with a strong focus on building emotional regulation, confidence and positive relationships.

Teaching takes place in small classes with excellent support, allowing for highly personalised learning and a holistic approach that blends core curriculum teaching with creative, nurturing and wellbeing-based activities.

As an SEMH Primary Teacher, you will:

• Deliver an adapted primary curriculum to meet a wide range of learning needs

• Create a safe, structured and positive classroom environment

• Implement trauma-informed and nurture-based strategies

• Support pupils in developing key social, emotional and self-regulation skills

• Work closely with a dedicated team of support staff and pastoral specialists

• Engage children in creative, therapeutic and outdoor/experiential learning

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• Experience in SEMH, SEND, or alternative provision (or a strong interest in this area)

• A nurturing, patient and empathetic approach

• Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills

• Enhanced DBS check on the update service or willingness to apply
