SEND Teaching Assistant

Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a nurturing and inclusive environment? We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our specialist education team in Watford.

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, and PMLD.
• Support pupils' learning, communication, and social development through structured activities and sensory-based approaches.
• Assist with personal care, mobility, and feeding when required.
• Promote independence, confidence, and engagement in the classroom.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to deliver tailored learning programmes.
• Help create a safe, positive, and stimulating learning environment for all pupils.

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN in a school or care setting.
• Patient, empathetic, and enthusiastic about supporting individual learning needs.
• Confident in managing challenging behaviour calmly and effectively.
• Willing to support with personal care and medical needs where necessary.
• Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or sensory strategies is desirable (training can be provided).
• A relevant qualification such as Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching & Learning or Health & Social Care is an advantage.
