Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their Parcel Solutions Project Delivery team, overseeing the delivery of large-scale automation projects within fast-paced and technically challenging parcel environments. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven project professional who wants to take ownership of complex engineering projects and progress toward a senior management role within a cutting-edge, global business.
The Role: In this position, you'll be responsible for managing the full project lifecycle from customer order through to final acceptance. You'll lead cross-functional teams, suppliers, and subcontractors to deliver automation solutions safely, on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment, demonstrating strong leadership and a proactive approach to managing risk, cost, and performance throughout the project journey.
Key Responsibilities - Lead by example in promoting a safety-first culture across all project activities.
- Provide clear leadership and direction to teams and subcontractors to ensure successful delivery.
- Develop and maintain robust project plans that meet agreed timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Manage risk, issues, and change, applying effective mitigation strategies.
- Oversee all commercial, contractual, and financial aspects of the project.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring expectations are consistently met or exceeded.
- Collaborate across internal departments, suppliers, and stakeholders to drive engagement and performance.
- Support bid and business development activities with accurate planning and project insights.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and best practice in project management.
About You: Essential Qualifications & Experience: - Experience within automated systems, such as parcel handling or airport baggage systems (training provided) or distribution/Warehouse experience
- Formal Contract Management Qualification (e.g., NEC3 or NEC4).
- Recognised Project Management Qualification (e.g., APM PMQ).
- Health, Safety & Environment qualification (e.g., CDM, IOSH, NEBOSH, or SMSTS).
- Proven experience delivering complex projects valued up to £30 million.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel across the UK & Ireland (occasional overseas travel).
Desirable: - Working knowledge of PLC or SCADA systems.
- Proficiency in MS SharePoint, Teams, and Office 365.
