SEN Teaching Assistant

• Pay rate: £14-£16 per hour
• Location: Milton Keynes, MK11
• Job Type: Full-time

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team in a vibrant school located in Milton Keynes. This role is ideal for someone passionate about providing tailored educational support to students with special educational needs (SEN).

Day-to-day of the role:

• Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction and guidance of the head teacher and SENCO.
• Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities.
• Work with other professionals, such as speech therapists and occupational therapists, as necessary to assist students.
• Prepare learning materials under the supervision of the teacher.
• Manage pupil behaviour in the classroom and on school premises, and apply appropriate and effective measures in cases of misbehaviour.
• Undertake pupil record keeping as requested by the teacher.
• Support the teacher in managing class behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience as a Teaching Assistant, preferably within an SEN setting.
• Understanding of the needs of students with special educational needs and the barriers they face to learning.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and foster positive relationships with staff, students, and parents.
• Patience, resilience, and a compassionate approach towards student learning.
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo this check).
