We are looking for an experienced Drafterto join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will ensure that all drawing requirements are planned, produced, and delivered to the required quality standards and within agreed timelines, including managing client approvals.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce General Arrangement and Fabrication Drawings and provide technical drawing support to Project Managers and site teams.
- Collaborate with Site Managers and Project Managers to clarify design intent and address fixing requirements.
- Plan and manage all drawing requirements to ensure timely delivery in line with project schedules, including outsourcing work where necessary to manage capacity.
- Ensure all drawings comply with company standards and relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement quality standards and procedures for the drawing office, including electronic filing and record maintenance.
- Attend technical reviews for new projects and monitor drawing production progress, reporting status and any concerns during weekly production meetings.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients and consultants to facilitate drawing development and approval, keeping Project Managers informed of progress.
- Review and approve drawings to maintain required quality standards.
- Record variations and track associated survey/drawing hours.
- Prioritize the issue of drawings for special items (e.g., specials, profiling) to the Buyer, ensuring sufficient lead time to meet programme deadlines.
- Review budgets and costings to align with company financial targets.
- Serve as the main point of contact for drawing office personnel, providing guidance, resolving queries, and liaising with clients as needed.
- Oversee the drawing office team, including day-to-day HR responsibilities such as training identification, discipline, recruitment, leave management, and recording meetings with contractual implications.
- Conduct site surveys in compliance with PPE requirements and safety risk assessments.
- Export data to StruMISfor production management purposes.
- Assist the Buyer with transferring data between Tekla and StruMIS.
- Ensure effective integration of filled wire.
- Perform any other duties necessary to support the role and departmental objectives.
Core Skills & Requirements
- Valid CSCS card
- 2-3 years of technical drawing experience using Tekla 3D, particularly in architectural and structural steel detailing
- Knowledge of StruMIS
- Strong communication skills with clients, colleagues, and management
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Understanding of budgets and cost management
- Team player mentality
- Valid driving licence
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Awareness of quality, health, safety, and environmental management principles
