Housing Reviews Officer
On behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced Housing Reviews Officer to join their team. This role is a key opportunity for a skilled housing professional with a strong background in statutory reviews to make a real impact in delivering fair and timely decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and determine statutory reviews under Section 202 of the Housing Act 1996.
- Prepare clear, robust, and legally sound decision letters.
- Analyse complex casework and apply relevant housing legislation, case law, and policy.
- Engage with applicants, legal representatives, and partner organisations in a professional and empathetic manner.
- Ensure compliance with statutory timescales and internal performance standards.
- Support continuous service improvement by identifying trends and best practice.
Essential Requirements:
- Proven experience in conducting s202 homelessness reviews.
- Strong knowledge of housing legislation, particularly Parts VI and VII of the Housing Act 1996.
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, legally compliant decisions.
- Ability to manage competing priorities within statutory deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Desirable:
- Previous experience working within a local authority housing options or homelessness service.
- Knowledge of judicial review processes.
