Transport Operations Manager

You must be an experienced International CPC holder living within 30 minutes of Leighton Buzzard - we will not consider applications that do not already have this certification or live outside of the commute area.

G Transport is a specialist car transport business going through an exciting period of growth. We move high-performance and unique vehicles for events, track days, and film productions across the UK & Europe, as well as providing a nationwide home delivery service for car manufacturers and private individuals.

With ambitious expansion plans, we're looking for a Transport Operations Manager to play a key role in shaping the future of the business. This is a hands-on role within a small, passionate team, offering the opportunity to develop, take on more responsibility, and directly influence our success.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Management

• Oversee day-to-day operations for a fleet of 12+ trucks, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance with all road traffic regulations and our Operator's Licence.
• Manage fleet maintenance, driver engagement, tachograph compliance, and road safety standards.
• Monitor and improve operational performance through KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure resources are allocated effectively to meet peaks and troughs in workload, including occasional evening and weekend requirements.

People Leadership

• Lead, manage, and develop a team of drivers, subcontractors, and a transport planner.
• Provide clear leadership and direction, ensuring the team is engaged, motivated, and achieving their potential.
• Foster a positive, collaborative culture while maintaining high professional standards.

Commercial & Customer Focus

• Contribute to developing commercial processes to maximise margins and operational opportunities.
• Build and maintain excellent relationships with customers, ensuring consistent high levels of service.
• Play an active role in designing and improving systems and processes to support growth.
• Support the Managing Director with business development and customer relationship management.

About You

Essential:

• International CPC holder (to be named on the O Licence).
• Extensive experience in transport management, with a proven record of running a profitable fleet.
• Strong leadership experience managing drivers and planners.
• In-depth knowledge of compliance, health & safety, and transport legislation.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, hands-on approach.
• Good European geographical knowledge.

Desirable:

• An understanding of automotive brands and prestige car transport.
• Ability to generate new business opportunities.
• HGV Licence

This is a fully office based role based from our depot in Leighton Buzzard
