Job Requirements/Description

Job Title: Tissue Viability Nurse

Location: London

Salary: Depending on experience

Contract Type: Full-time

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Tissue Viability Nurse to join our dedicated healthcare team. You would provide specialist advice, supervision, and support to Clients and healthcare professionals across acute, community in Clients homes, and primary care settings and in clinic.

The single most important skill you will have is to be able to approach a problem or situation with a creative, innovative, and unconventional mindset, rather than relying on traditional or obvious solutions. We encourage breaking free from established patterns and exploring new perspectives and ideas that will lead to healing for our clients. Also, you would be expected to ensure that all staff dealing with Clients will treat them with respect and can expect the same consideration in return.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide expert assessment and management of complex wounds, pressure ulcers, and lymphoedema
  • Triage and respond to tissue viability referrals in a timely manner, arranging clinics or home visits as required
  • Develop, implement, and audit evidence-based care systems, protocols, and guidelines to improve patient outcomes and reduce any risk of harm
  • Delivering education and training on wound management, pressure ulcer prevention, support surfaces, and leg ulcer care to multidisciplinary teams and carers
  • Liaise with acute trusts, community district nurses, care homes, and allied health professionals to coordinate discharge planning and continuity of care
  • Act as a change agent by disseminating best-practice research into routine clinical practice and quality-improvement initiatives
  • Maintain accurate records, generate concise reports, and contribute to service-level governance and shared-governance forums
  • Advise on procurement and cost-effective use of pressure-relieving equipment and dressings

Qualifications and Experience

  • Registered Nurse (NMC) with active registration
  • Minimum 3 years' post-registration experience
  • Post-registration qualification in tissue viability or wound care, demonstrable experience in these fields, or a strong confirmed enthusiasm for advancing tissue viability practice
  • Experience in developing clinical guidelines, audit, and quality-improvement projects
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Skills and Competencies

  • Expert clinical assessment and decision-making in tissue viability
  • Strong teaching and presentation abilities for diverse professional audiences
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with empathy for Clients and carers
  • Project-management skills, including audit, data analysis, and report writing
  • Ability to influence and lead service development initiatives

Working Relationships

  • Reports to the Tissue Viability Service Lead or Specialist Services Lead
  • Collaborates with the Multidisciplinary team to ensure client safety
  • Liaises regularly with primary care trusts, secondary care multidisciplinary team, care homes, and external agencies

Additional Information

This role may require travel across multiple sites and occasional weekend or on-call duties. Continued professional development via conferences, study days, and audit meetings is encouraged and supported.

Education is provided and a keenness to undertake education to doctorate level will be supported.

Join us and become part of a forward-thinking team dedicated to delivering excellence in tissue viability care.
