Job Title: Teaching and Learning Improvement Manager
Department: Quality
Reports to: Assistant Principal - Quality & Student Services
Grade: P07
Location: Cross Campus
Key Purpose:
• To engage with leaders and staff across College to improve standards of teaching, learning and assessment by leading and driving a culture of continuous improvement, excellence and innovation across all aspects of College provision, including classroom based, apprenticeships and distance learning.
• To ensure that all learners experience high quality teaching and learning which develops the skills and knowledge they need to be successful in their programme of study, and which ensures their onward progression to higher levels of study, apprenticeships and employment.
• To drive quality improvement processes across all aspects of College provision, including classroom-based, apprenticeships and distance learning.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Ensure that teaching and learning improvement strategies identified through the quality cycle, observations and learning walks are consistent and effective across the College and effective actions are identified to support and develop teachers and skills trainers who are required to make improvements through immersive development
• To assist with the coordination of the College's lesson observation process, including learning walks and deep dives, working with senior colleagues and Heads of Curriculum to ensure that there is impact on teaching and learning development and improvement.
• To co-ordinating the work of Learning Coaches to monitoring and reviewing the impact of reflective action plans on a timely basis and identifying key trends and interventions to address areas of risk and improvement and develop other effective peer support mechanisms.
• To be able to analyse and interrogate complex quantitative data measures, including retention, achievement and attendance to ensure learners remain on target through appropriate interventions.
• Be a role model of best practice in teaching, learning and assessment across the College, inspiring and coaching others to deliver outstanding performance, through promoting outstanding pedagogical practice and cascade learning and development
across College curriculum areas and apprenticeship delivery.
• Ensure that staff have access to evidence-based knowledge and thinking in relation to the latest teaching and learning strategies including digital and blended approaches, tapping into relevant professional networks to facilitate this.
• Identify the support and development needs of teaching staff and implement and deliver CPD programmes, in close consultation with senior colleagues and the Executive Director of People and Organisational Development.
• Implement quality improvement processes and tracking systems including quality audits to ensure that key performance indicators are met by regular monitoring and review of learners' progress so underperforming areas of provision can be identifying and supported.
• Lead Heads of Curriculum in the self-assessment and quality improvement process that's leads to impactful outcomes
• Ensure that systematic, robust assessment and internal verification procedures and practices are in place in line with regulatory and awarding body requirements.
• Contribute towards the promotion of promoting a whole organisation approach to digital learning, which enhances the learner and apprenticeship experience and encourages staff and learners to become independent users of technology enhanced learning.
• Ensure that learner voice has a central role in improving the quality of teaching, learning and assessment and organise and implement all College surveys of the learner experience and write reports on survey findings.
