Job Requirements/Description

Cranleigh STEM is proud to be partnering with an innovative organisation in the sustainability sector to recruit a driven and self-motivated Electrical Controls Engineer. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between software and hardware for our clients' next-generation clean energy solutions.

The role involves producing system schematics, wiring diagrams, specifications, and supporting the build and testing of electrical control panels.

The ideal candidate will have strong practical skills, expertise working with PLCs, fault finding, and a track record of designing electrical hardware to high standards. A solid understanding of industrial electronics is essential.

The role suits individuals who thrive in innovative environments, demonstrate initiative, and work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and document single-line and detailed electrical systems, including components like transformers, motors, and circuit protection.
  • Develop specifications and compliance documentation for internal and contractor-led projects.
  • Produce manufacturing designs and support product integration with engineers and scientists.
  • Conduct safety and compliance reviews (HAZOP, SIL, LOPA) and resolve faults using test equipment.

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience or knowledge of EN 60204 and BS7671:2018 standards.
  • Familiarity with functional safety (EN 61511) and Siemens PLCs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a willingness to travel occasionally, including internationally.

Education and Skills:

  • Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
  • Expertise in machinery compliance (CE/UKCA), EMC/EMI mitigation, and low-voltage systems.
  • Experience with fuel cells, solar PV, and battery systems is advantageous.
  • Previous experience working within a quality-focused organisation with structured QA procedures.

If you meet the above criteria and are interested in this exciting opportunity, please contact Lewis Cox at (url removed) to learn more or to apply.
