Hybrid (3 days onsite)

One of the largest financial institutions in the U.S., it serves millions across consumer banking, investment, and wealth management. Headquartered in North Carolina, it plays a pivotal role in global finance.

Role Overview:We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer with a strong background in the banking and financial services sector, particularly in corporate and commercial payments/deposits. The ideal candidate will play a key role in designing, developing and supporting robust, scalable applications, working within Agile delivery teams.

Responsibilities: Design, develop and maintain Java-based applications using the Spring Boot framework Build and maintain containerised solutions on OpenShift Design and implement scalable microservices and APIs Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors, including SaaS providers Contribute to the design and implementation of security architecture, including integration with HSMs Capture and analyse business requirements, translate them into technical specifications Support application testing, release and maintenance activities Provide 2nd/3rd line support as required Work both independently and collaboratively within Agile teams Produce clear, well-documented code and technical documentation Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levelsSkills & Responsibilities: Strong proficiency in Java development, with experience spanning Java 11+ through to the latest versions (Java 24) Solid experience with Spring Boot and microservices architecture Hands-on experience with OpenShift or similar container orchestration platforms Previous experience working in banking/financial services, with a focus on payments Understanding of SaaS solutions and integration with external vendors Familiarity with security architecture and cryptographic components, including HSMs Experience working with at least one major cloud provider (Azure, AWS or GCP) Strong grasp of Agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Kanban) Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proven ability to work both autonomously and in a collaborative team environmentRequired Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline Extensive experience of professional Java development experience, preferably in the financial services domain Proven experience working in agile delivery teams within complex enterprise environments Demonstrated ability to design and implement secure, scalable solutions using microservices architecture Solid understanding of payments systems and regulatory considerations in banking Strong grasp of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and CI/CD practices Certifications in cloud platforms (e.g. AWS Certified Developer, Microsoft Azure Developer Associate or equivalent) are a plus Relevant security certifications or experience working with HSMs and cryptographic standards is advantageous
