Team Manager - Adult Social Care
  • Location: Guildhall, City of London
  • Job Type: Full-time, Temporary, Hybrid (3 days in office minimum)

We are seeking a dedicated Team Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team within the Department of Adult Social Care Services. This role is crucial for managing and developing the Adult Social Care Service, ensuring high-quality, strengths-based support for adults in the City of London. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in social work, with extensive experience in operational management and a deep understanding of relevant legislation.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the daily operations of a team comprising Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, and Strengths-based Practitioners.
  • Ensure the team meets statutory duties, focuses on safeguarding adults at risk, and supports adults to achieve their expressed outcomes.
  • Represent the adult social care team internally and externally, negotiating pathways to meet service needs.
  • Provide guidance on Safeguarding practice and manage risk across the service.
  • Recruit, motivate, and monitor the performance of staff, providing professional supervision and identifying training needs.
  • Collaborate with other teams within the department to improve co-working and develop effective service pathways.
  • Manage resources effectively, including budgeting and authorising care packages.
  • Lead the team in implementing service area plans and contribute to the development of case management software.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Relevant Social Work qualification (Degree or Diploma) and current registration with Social Work England.
  • Proven experience in managing a team of qualified professionals in a social care setting.
  • Strong knowledge of the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and other relevant legislation.
  • Experience in safeguarding adult practice and enquiries under s42 of the Care Act (2014).
  • Ability to develop professional relationships and effectively manage a multidisciplinary team.
  • Computer literacy and strong presentation skills appropriate for the role.
  • Commitment to principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion in service provision and employment.
