At the Pension Protection Fund (PPF), our mission is clear: we provide vital compensation to members of eligible defined benefit pension schemes when their employer faces insolvency and the scheme lacks sufficient assets. We're here to protect futures and we do it with excellence.

With over £30 billion in assets under management and nearly 300,000 members, the PPF ranks among the top five pension schemes in the UK. Our award-winning team of c.450 professionals has earned the prestigious IPE Pension Fund of the Year title four times in the last six years, reflecting our commitment to innovation, integrity, and impact.

We're proud to play a unique and valuable role in the UK pension landscape. Our success is driven by our people, exceptional individuals who bring expertise, passion, and purpose to everything they do.

Are you a part-qualified actuary with a passion for modelling and a keen eye for detail? Join our Actuarial and Funding Directorate and play a key role in shaping the financial resilience of the organisation.

As a Part-Qualified Modelling Actuary, you'll support the delivery of high-quality actuarial advice to the Board, with a particular focus on modelling and will contribute to strategic decision-making. You'll also develop a deep understanding of our stochastic models - the Long-Term Risk Model (LTRM) and the Economic Scenario Model (ESM) - which are central to monitoring our financial resilience.

In this role, you'll be at the heart of our actuarial modelling work, contributing to the design, coding, testing, and operation of complex models. You'll analyse outputs, ensure results meet quality standards, and help drive improvements across our modelling processes. As you progress, you'll also begin reviewing models and offering guidance to junior colleagues. Collaboration is key, and you'll work closely with teams across the organisation to support planning, problem-solving, and decision-making.

We're looking for a motivated and analytically minded individual who has completed the CS, CM, and CB exams as a minimum. You'll bring relevant experience in actuarial modelling from an insurer or consultancy, along with solid knowledge of areas such as risk, valuations, pensions, investments, and the UK pension landscape.

The ideal candidate will have strong numerical and analytical skills, proficiency in a high-level coding language such as Python, R or Tyche, and the ability to manage competing priorities while meeting deadlines. Excellent communication skills are essential, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences. We would welcome applicants either looking to progress with their exams, or not intending to sit further exams. If you're proactive, collaborative, and eager to grow, we'd love to hear from you.

Sound like you? Apply now.

In return for your skills, experience and commitment we'll give you a challenging role within a business where you'll get the support you need to develop your career.

We'll also give you lots of opportunities for personal development and skills training.
