External Lighting EngineerLondon£43,000We are seeking an External Lighting Engineer to join our Electrical Contractor clients. The role is based in London and comes with a salary of £43,000. The role involves installation, maintenance, and servicing of street lighting infrastructure-including lighting columns, feeder pillars, illuminated signage, bollards, and external lighting systems-primarily within the social housing and local authority sectors.Responsibilities for External Lighting Engineer

• Interpret underground cable drawings and specifications for lighting installations
• Install, maintain, and repair street lighting furniture and external lighting systems
• Conduct groundworks including trenching, ducting, and fault excavation
• Diagnose underground faults using CAT/Genny and technical drawings
• Perform routine visual and electrical inspections
• Ensure compliance with BS 7671 regulations and health & safety standards
• Accurately complete job reports and documentation
• Attend training sessions and participate in performance reviews
• Collaborate with office staff and supervisors to resolve queries

Requirements for External Lighting Engineer

• Strong knowledge of the street lighting industry
• Proven experience in installation and maintenance of lighting systems
• Familiarity with electrical safety standards and legislation
• Competent in using mobile devices for job reporting and certification
• Excellent communication and organisational skills

• Responsible, proactive, and safety-conscious
• City & Guilds Level 3 Electrotechnical Qualification (essential)
• GS39, IPAF, NRSWA (desirable)
• Full UK driving licence
