Production Line Managers must be capable of maximising raw material usage whilst minimising the risk of rejections and customer complaints in the most efficient manner. To co-ordinate, manage a team and lead an area by setting priorities, co-ordinate tasks and generally ensuring production targets are met. The role will have good technical understanding of the equipment in their area. The Line Manager will interpret production schedules and operational data, liaise with other departments and resolve problems that cannot be resolved by the operatives. Provide first level training to team members in their area. (Production experience isn't required as full training will be given)
MAIN DUTIES/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES.
Understand and enforce health and safety and food safety standards and procedures, including the correct wearing of PPE to ensure that a safe working environment is maintained and high quality products produced at all times.
Plan work and resources in their own area; allocate tasks on a daily basis to ensure production and company targets are met.
Ensure all Standard Operating Procedures' are followed correctly.
Monitor quality at all times, ensure all necessary customer and food safety checks/records are maintained by your team.
Ensure all Due- Diligence documentation is completed to the agreed schedule and is 100% compliant.
Ensure all G.M.P. Standards (Good Manufacturing Practice) with regards to hygiene & housekeeping is adhered to at all times.
Constantly seeks ways in which efficiency and yields can be increased and labour cost and waste reduced.
Apply problem solving techniques to resolve operating problems and recommend improvements in order to keep your areas running to planned levels.
Liaise, motivate and communicate with the team and other departments to keep them informed of the progress, to resolve issues and to ensure the efficient running of your area.
Carry out assessments on your team members in relation to performance and training needs to ensure the team's operate effectively and meet production and company targets. Give feedback to staff regarding performance (both individual & company)
Ensure staff performance reviews are completed to the agreed procedure and schedule.
Provide on-going support to your team and to help them attain the necessary skills.
Ensure the Return to Work procedure is adhered to at all times.
Ensure all PPM & PPLH targets are achieved. Display this information on the KPI boards.
Ensure all production lines, staff and machinery are utilised efficiently & effectively.
Be aware of and adhere to all company policies' and guidelines.
Any urgent issues affecting the efficient and effective running of your production area are to be escalated immediately to the Production Manager, in his absence report to the Operations Manager or the Operations Director.
