Waking Night Carer, in Sevenoaks, TN15. A full time Waking Night Carer position supporting an engaging, energetic and fun-loving 14-year-old young lady with an Acquired Brain Injury and associated difficulties. £50,000.00 + Gross per Annum
Nearest Tube/Station: Not applicable, driver with own car required to travel to and from family home
Wage/Salary: £20.20 Weekdays £22.20 Weekends £50,000.00 + per Annum (working 4 shifts per week). All figures quoted in gross
Driver Essential? Yes, to travel to and from the family / client home
Essential: Experienced Waking Night Carer (minimum 1 year), current / hands on experience in epilepsy and seizure management. Experience working within a family setting. Must be comfortable working in a family home with pets. Non-smoker. This role is open to female applicants only.
Start Date: ASAP
Days & Hours: 3 OR 4 x 12-hour shifts per week. 8.00pm 8.00am. Rolling rota and will include working some weekend nights
Family/Client Pets: Yes 4 large dogs, 1 cat
Accommodation: Large area with comfortable sofa, access to kitchen throughout shift

About this client/child: Alice is a fabulous teenager with a real enthusiasm for life, learning, play and causing a little bit of mischief every now and then! Alice enjoys a range of activities and hobbies such as horse riding, imaginative and creative play, playing with her dolls, colouring and tag! Alice sustained an Acquired Brain Injury when she was 3 months old, as a result she has Epilepsy (un-controlled and requires Paraldehyde as emergency medication). Alice also has a learning disability, hearing loss and a movement disorder affecting all four limbs, however, only requires a wheelchair when outdoors. Alice can communicate verbally, however can find it difficult processing information, therefore, she needs short, clear and concise communication / sentences. Alice lives at home with her Mummy, and Stepdad, she has siblings however they do not live with Alice full-time, and pop in and out regularly. Alice spends some weekend days with her Dad.
Overview of role: Alice s epilepsy is uncontrolled therefore the Waking Night Carer must be attentive throughout the night; full training is provided, and a protocol is in place. The waking night carer will monitor Alice via an audio and video monitor from the lounge or kitchen, generally Alice sleeps very well, however she may require comforting back to sleep or assistance with toileting etc. There are other duties throughout the night shifts such as documenting / record keeping, updating care plans, light duties related to Alice and replenishing stock / medication. Alice and her family have 4 large dogs at home, so you must be comfortable working in a household with pets. Further information on this role is available on application.

You must be reliable, trustworthy and intuitive. Due to the location of the family home, you must be a confident driver with your own car. For this role you must be a non-smoker, and Female.
